Building off of the previous report, one week later.
It was a cloudy and then sunny day, great weather for a hike. Beautiful views of the partially snow-covered pond with the mountains in the backdrop.
Trail is still covered in packed snow which makes walking/navigating good enough. Although the paved trail is mostly lost under the snow, you can follow previous hikers' path to stay on course and avoid going into the deeper snow. Although we used regular hiking boots, some parts of the pathway were a bit tougher to walk on because of deeper snow cover. We saw several people wearing snow shoes or spikes, making it easier to navigate some parts of the hike. Many families, including some with smaller children were out and about doing the loop, including some folks with no hiking gear.
Roadway to the winter entrance was completely clear, accessible to any vehicle. Parking was easy, not very crowded.
Remember to take/print your Sno-Park permit (America the Beautiful and other passes are not valid during winter, as Forest Service officers explained to some folks).
