We got to the trailhead about 8:30, with the lot about a third full. My friend didn't have a Discover Pass, and struggled a bit to buy one on the website via phone. But we did it!
We hit snow at 2700 feet, and we eventually put on our microspikes. One friend didn't have any, and she slid a bit coming down. I was happy to have them. The snow was beautiful, but slush and ice were melting from the trees above us. Getting hit with a tiny pellet of ice stings!
We stopped at the first view point to have a quick lunch. Grey jays gave my hand a whack as they tried to steal a bite of my bagel. Mt Si has got the boldest of these little bandits, by far. There wasn't much view, and though the snowy landscape was gorgeous, snow was falling, and we were cold and damp from our walk through the woods.
The crowds were pretty low today, and the dogs mostly leashed and well behaved.
