Snow is almost gone from
the trail from the top of Chinook pass to the top of the ridge. There were still a few patches but could easily be negotiated, even with my group of 8 youngsters in packs ages 5 to 13. The trail down to Dewey lake is all but clear, and both lakes are clear of snow in the campsites. Flowers are out in full force. We brought plenty of repellant, but the bugs weren't really that bad. Fishing was largely unsuccessful compared to this time last year; Lost of small fry jumping out in the middle just beyond casting reach!!! Lots of people there on Saturday, glad we left before the crowds came... There were hoards of people making the short day hike on Saturday from Chinook Pass to the top of the ridge.
