We chose the eastside
of the Cascades as we were anticipating the typical rainy weather pattern for May. Saturday was absolutely gorgeous but Sunday it sprinkled on us--but not bad as we found out on the west side of the mountains! Anyway the trail starts out a little steep and then goes on a gradual incline following Robinson creek. At this point of the year the creek is a raging river. Eventually at about 3 miles you have nice views looking up the Robinson valley as well as Lookout Point and the far shoulder of Robinson Peak. We went as far as the second crossing of Robinson Creek. At this point there was snow (4200 ft) and covered the trail. This side of the valley had more snow at lower elevations than the other due to the shade it receives from the sun. Overall, the snow elevation looked to start in patches around 5000 feet in that area. Trail is in good shape.
