Trip Report

Deer Lake, Bogachiel Peak — Tuesday, Jun. 16, 1998

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast
Left Sol Duc trail-head by Lover's Lane. Took this to the Deer Lake trail, then followed Deer Lake trail to the lake. There was no snow and the trail was in good shape up to Deer Lake. The High Divide Trail from Deer Lake to Hoh Lake was almost completly snow covered. This route requires very good route-finding ability and an ice axe. We crossed at least 4 miles of snow fields, some up to 45 degrees. The trail from Hoh Lake to the Hoh River trail is mostly snow free and easy to follow.
