Trip Report

Middle Fork Snoqualmie River — Saturday, Jul. 17, 1999

Snoqualmie Region > North Bend Area
The B/V family includes myself, my sister, her husband, and their 7 month old girl. This was a great day hike for this type of group, and we encountered very few other hikers. The first mile of trail was well maintained, but for the next 1.5 miles we encountered a lot of water/mud on the trails and overgrowth. We also had to cross over several downed trees. We traveled together to the 2.5 mile mark, and shared a lunch at a large gravel spit. I ventured on to the falls by myself, and about .5 miles from the spit encountered tremendous blow-down and overgrowth. This greatly slowed my travel time, and it was easy to become disoriented because there are several newly laid trails to go around the blow-down. Overall, a lovely hike if you are willing to put up with mud on your ankles and shrubs brushing your cheeks. Don't forget your flyrod!
