Trip Report

Denny Creek, Melakwa Lake — Saturday, Sep. 11, 1999

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Left the Denny Creek Trailhead at 9:00 am while it was cool, still less than 40 degrees. Only a few cars in the lot. Weather was spectacular, not a cloud in the sky. Trail was in great shape, only a few blowdowns between Snowshoe Falls and Hemlock Pass. It took me two hours to reach Melakwa Lake. Spent about 15 minutes admiring the glacial valley surrounded by Chair Peak, Bryant Peak, and Kaleetan Peak. Lots of foot traffic on the way down, plus families swimming in Denny Creek where the trail crosses it. All in all, a four-hour jaunt up and down. What a great way to spend a sunny Sunday.
