There are some brushy spots where the Snow Lake Trail crosses the avalanche slope 0.2 miles from the trailhead. There is a tree across the trail at 0.9 miles. The trails are mostly snow-free with some snow patches, especially above 4600 feet. Snow Lake is 95% thawed and Gem Lake is 80% thawed. All of the campsites at Snow Lake are snow-free and most of the campsites at Gem Lake are snow-free.
