Yakima Skyline Trail — Friday, May. 13, 2005

Central Washington > Yakima
We had not done the south end of the Yakima Rim Trail so looking for better weather we headed east. The drive down the Yakima Canyon is just gorgeous right now. From the car we spotted deer and sheep on the hillside across the river. From Selah follow Wenas Road to Gibson Road then to Buffalo Road parking about 2.5 miles from Gibson Road. The trail heads toward the ridge and climbs gently up along the rim. If you don't like rocky trails stay away from this one. In about 3 hours we were on the high point (3208'(?) before the trail drops to Roza creek. The wildflowers were great on top with more Bitterroot than I've ever seen. We only saw 4 snakes who just wanted to be somewhere else as we passed by.
