Trip Report

Summit Lake, Bearhead Mountain — Thursday, Oct. 20, 2005

Mount Rainier Area > NW - Carbon River/Mowich
Great day for three of us to visit the Mt.Rainier area. We picked these trails outside the park so we could take my friend's dog. As reported, the road to the trailhead is very rocky but manageable. Trials are pleasant but lots of water running down parts of them. Views from the top of Bearhead are really nice, seeing Baker, Glacier Peak and Stuart. Lots of old broken glass all around where the lookout used to be so collected a baggy full to throw out. Maybe the next visitor could do the same. Also went to Summit Lake which we discovered we could see from the top of Bearhead. Really nice lake with a gorgeous view of Rainier. Lots of rocky beach to explore at this time of year. Wish we could have stayed longer! Unfortunately another baggie of garbage collected from the woods just above where we took a break. PLEASE STOP THE LITTERING!! Around 9mi RT
