Four things to report about Rattlesnake Ridge. First, on a beautiful Sunday this is a remarkably crowed destination. Second, although the hike is as easy as trail engineering can possibly manage, it still has enough gain to make you sweat, particularly if the temps are in the high 50s. Third, I don't remember seeing any snow up to the ledges, but patches appear a couple hundred feet above the ledges and the snow became continuous along the top. I had carried my snow shoes up there just to have a chance to play on 'em, but there was no real need. Finally, someone has done a masterful job of establishing a real trail above the ledge. (WTA folks?) In previously years we had to cast back and forth to find hints of a trail, but now it is very evident. By the way, the crowds disappeared completely above the first ledge.
