Trip Report
Talapus and Olallie Lakes, Talapus Lake Snowshoe — Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007

Superbowl Day! Great day to drive to the mountains. Greg,Rose,Kathleen and I parked just off I-90 and took a short-cut throught the woods to the trailhead. Hard packed snow from here to the lake with some spots icy made for slow going but the weather was just right for the hike. Only saw one person the whole day. Stopped for lunch by the switchback near stream. Here we cooled down with a gentle breeze comming from the water. Really warm at the lake--off came the jacket. A couple of plump gray jays came to visit but did not stay long when they realized we did not have anything to eat. The hike back was a little quicker because we by-passed some of the icy spots. A great day and I thank everyone for going. Much better than sitting in front of the TV. Pic 1 is lunch by the river. Pic 2 is at the lake outlet.
