Trip Report

Smithbrook, Lake Janus and Grizzly Peak — Sunday, Jul. 1, 2007

Central Cascades > Stevens Pass - East
Lake Janus
The trees have been cleared out of the road. There are two across the trail on the way to Union Gap but easy to get over and around. One is a large rotten cedar that I like to think a bear was rooting around in for bugs and it fell down onto the trail. Lots of snow still at Union Gap. Also snow where the talus slope is --looks like left over avalanche debris and there are some patches near the lake. Snow is melting out underneath-use caution or fall through like I did! The trail has water running down it in several places. No bugs and nice and cool with the snow! Beautiful day.
