I took advantage of the mild weather today and headed out with a group to Lake Serene. When we arrived at the trailhead at 940am, the lot was nearly full. A couple of rangers were out looking for cars without Northwest Forest Passes, so make sure to bring yours along!
The trail is in good condition with a little mud in some spots. Bridal Veil Falls is rushing mightily and is a magnificent sight thanks to recent snowmelt.
About .5 mile from the lake, there are some sizable snow-covered slopes that must be traversed with caution, especially since some of the snow is beginning to melt. The lake itself is still frozen over for the most part, but small patches are beginning to melt out.
There were a lot of people on the trail, so plan accordingly if you are seeking solitude!
