Wow! This was my first trip to the summit of Mt. Townsend and I was very impressed. I enjoyed 360 degrees of awesome views! (Even with some clouds and haze in the sky today. I can only imagine what it would be like on a clear day!) The snow is essentially gone from the trail and, it looks like there will soon be rhody's in bloom and some wild strawberries to eat. Lots of pretty phlox in bloom now. It was very windy on top, don't forget to bring warm clothes or a jacket if you want to linger for lunch on the summit. No bugs today. Only a couple of minor blowdown to climb over or under. Seems to be a fairly popular trail - not for solitude seekers - at least on the weekend.
