Snoqualmie Region > Salmon La Sac/Teanaway
DeRoux Creek was the first of my 3 days of hiking. I decided with the borderline weather and the cool temperatures on the west side that the Teanaway would be perfect. It was. I took the doggies and they were soooooo appreciative of an outing in HORSE country. I took spur trail 1392.1 up and over a pass and down into “Huckleberry Meadows” where there is a horse camp. No one appeared home at this time. What a beautiful meadow! The flowers on the pass were all buckwheats but once we dropped down into the meadows and forest, the variety in bloom was impressive. I also saw a couple of Western Tanagers and some other “good birds”, but not sure what they were. We kept going and headed up to another pass where I had great view of Mt Stuart and on down towards Ellensburg. It is sad to see all the defoliating trees. I think it was Cathedral Peak that stuck out of the cloak of clouds surrounding it on 3 sides. I should have taken a picture……. On our way out we met a pack train headed to that particular horse camp and it looked like all teenagers. Bet they had fun! The dogs slept the whole next day. A tired dog is a good dog.
