We hiked up the Ingalls Way trail almost to Ingalls Pass (about 15 minutes below the pass). Turned off to go cross country to Lake Campfire Girls. It is a small lake fed by snow melt. When we were there in 2005, the lake was bone dry. This time it had water, but it was not deep. In 2005 we took pictures of everyone standing in the middle of the dry lake. I tried to persuade someone to wade out into the lake so I could take their picture, but no luck. We then hiked up to Ingalls Pass and some of us continued on to Lake Ingalls. We went through Headlight Basin on the way in and returned through the upper meadow. On our way back, just before Ingalls Pass, we saw a mountain goat. He seemed to be watching us as much as we were watching him. He crossed the rocks above us and casually went on his way.
