This is one of the prettiest hikes we’ve done this year as far as the wild flowers go. They are really in abundance. This is a fairly easy hike on a nice trail all the way to the lakes. About a mile in, you come to a nice, sandy bottom pond to cool your feet and let the dogs enjoy a romp in the water.
On through the hike are nice views of the mountains and more wild flowers. The last mile to the lakes is through the trees so it provided the shade we gladly welcomed. The lakes are a pretty aquamarine color and would have been a great place for lunch except for the fierce mosquitoes. These guys must be immune to Deet as it didn’t seem to discourage them no matter where we went. Needless to say, we had to cut our lunchtime short and head back up. Maybe later in the fall would be the best time for this one.
