Hikes 30 Minutes from Wenatchee
You may be tempted to drive all the way to Leavenworth to get your hiking fix, but there's plenty to do right around the Wenatchee area. Rolling hills, wildflowers, waterfronts and views of nearby ranges and peaks can all be found without traveling far from Wenatchee.

Is it really a 30-minute drive? Your starting point and traffic may make these 5 minutes or 40 minutes away. And if you're taking a bus, it may take quite a bit longer to reach the trailhead. (Be sure to double check routes and schedules.)
Horse Lake Reserve
Location: Central Washington -- Wenatchee

A hike through Horse Lake Reserve is great for children and adults alike. With interpretive signs along the trail, hikers can learn about the local flora and fauna. The hike is very exposed, providing hikers with wide views of the surrounding peaks, Wenatchee, and the Columbia River. In the right season, wildflowers are bountiful, blanketing the grass all around the trail.

Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail
Location: Central Washington -- Wenatchee

The Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail is a fully paved loop that hugs both sides of the Columbia River. Waterfront views and beach access are available to those trekking the loop. Easily accessible by car, public transit or even walking from within Wenatchee, this is a great option for anyone who wants an urban hike without leaving city limits.

Jacobson Preserve
Location: Central Washington -- Wenatchee

Jacobson Preserve is accessible year round, with plenty of greenery and plant life to enjoy. The trail has many views of Wenatchee from above, as well as the Columbia River. Because the area is so easy to get to, hikers may run into Wenatchee elementary school students during the week or people seeking an adventure after work in the evenings.

Cashmere Canyons Preserve
Location: Central Cascades -- Leavenworth Area
Mileage: 12.0 miles of trails

Looking to explore a trail system through rolling hills? Cashmere Canyons Preserve provides a large network of trails, making up about 12 miles overall. Visitors have many hike options available to them; those who are looking for expansive views of the nearby Enchantments will be as satisfied as those hoping to walk through forests. Be aware that this area is hiker-only (no pets are allowed) and only permits day use.

Wenatchee Confluence State Park - Horan Natural Area
Location: Central Washington -- Wenatchee

Wenatchee Confluence State Park can be hiked year round, sitting along the Columbia River waterfront. The Horan Natural Area is home to much wildlife, including birds, beavers and frogs. This gravel trail is a loop with views of nearby Mission Ridge and Sage Hills, a wonderful option for a quiet stroll without having to drive far.
