This hike was a multi-day Backcountry Response Team (BCRT) work party in North Cascades National Park. We thru-hiked from the Easy Pass trailhead on Hwy 20 to the Thunder Creek trailhead at Colonial Creek Campground. We overnighted at Fisher, Cosho and Junction Camps with most of the trail work including heavy brushing and log outs occurring between Fisher and Cosho. Easy Pass is a tough climb but the views from the top were spectacular. Fisher Basin is an incredibly scenic and remote location in the North Cascades. Once past the day hikers at Easy Pass, we encountered only one other hiker over the next two days between Fisher and Junction Camps. Wildflowers were past their peak, but still abundant as were the flies and mosquitoes unfortunately. The views from the ridge at Junction Camp are also outstanding- high peaks, several glaciers and waterfalls tumbling into the Thunder Creek drainage. A nice group of trip leaders and volunteers made this a great experience, though the combination of elevation gain/loss, hiking mileage and trail work made this a very rigorous outing.
