Representation and horse power: WTA and Back Country Horsemen of Washington team up for first joint all-women's trip
Watch a short film about the first all-women's backcountry trail work trip by longtime partners, Back Country Horsemen of Washington and Washington Trails Association.
Washington Trails Association and Back Country Horsemen of Washington have worked together for years to leverage people and horse power to care for backcountry trails. But this summer, as part of our Lost Trails Found campaign, we teamed up to host an all-women's backcountry trip — our first of its kind to bring trail volunteers and equestrians together
Over the course of 5 days, 12 women and four horses restored over 5 miles of trails on the Billy Goat Trail in the Pasayten Wilderness. Severely impacted by fires, these trails were in need of some serious care to make them safe for hikers and horses alike.
This short film about this historic backcountry trip explores the power of partnership to put backcountry trails back on the map and the importance of creating shared identity spaces for a more inclusive outdoors.
Build community, get outside and make a difference by signing up for a trail work party today. We offer shared-identity work parties throughout the year.
