Trip Report

Dirty Harry's Peak — Saturday, Mar. 22, 2014

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass
Approach on Dirty Harry's Peak. 7.3mi 915m ascent. Snow on lower trail provided questionable footing. Footprints terminated roughly 0.7mi past the balcony turnoff, just before the trail turns into the creek (below the gallery). Snowshoes required past the gallery, though the trail alternated between deep snow and creeks/runoff. The upper section held more snow, probably 3ft plus considerable drifting. Some smaller shelves had collapsed and the snow was very fluffy. With moderate avalanche warnings and air temperatures around 50F, I turned around at a switchback where I couldn't climb back up onto snow that was nothing more than waist deep air.
