Overall 4.6mi RT 425m ascent.
Water puddle stairs heading to Bridal Veil Falls, but the rain was perfectly matched with the freezing spray coming off the falls to ensure the lonely hiker of pure saturation while standing and admiring the view.
The trail to Lake Serene was generally impassable at the lower end of the falls. I looked around for some time for a viable crossing, but the obvious stone hopping path seemed to be about four feet under water. There was significant washout underbrush in the entire area and downstream.
This hike has some notable up and down; with the varied size rock chunks on the old road, I wouldn't categorize this as an 'easy' hike: Lots of wet leaves to trip over, lots of places where the trail is washed out. Lots of stream crossings. Lots of pools of water to fall into.
