Ptarmigan Ridge — Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2017

North Cascades > Mount Baker Area

Today was a great day on the mountain! The Ptarmigan Ridge trail is in good shape. It is snow free until the junction with the Chain Lakes trail. After that, there are several snow fields of varying sizes to cross. I saw several people with spikes on, but I was fine in trail runners. There are a ton of wildflowers everywhere, and the bugs weren't bad at all (I didn't even wear bug spray). Goat Lake is still mostly frozen over, and true to its name, there were about 7 or 8 goats hanging out right next to it.
