Hiking BZ Trail

A short route that provides a way for kayakers and rafters to go around BZ falls. Some locals use the trail to see the rapids and watch people going through them.

To hike BZ Trail, turn left at the base of the cliffs and follow it a quarter-mile to a little viewpoint tucked away in a canyon. The route is adjacent to the White Salmon River.

Parking and a vault toilet are available year-round. Also available during peak season (summertime; May through September) are accessible restrooms with flush toilets, changing facilities, and sinks.

Getting There

From Vancouver: Travel east on Highway 14 approximately 64 miles to State Route 141 Alternate. Turn left (north) onto State Route 141 Alternate and travel north approximately two miles to Washington State Route 141. Turn left on State Route 141 and travel approximately 8 miles to the parking area on the right side (east). Parking area is approximately at milepost (MP) 12.5.

*You may prefer to use I-84 from Portland which is a bit faster, but coming across the Hood River Bridge is a toll bridge so bring cash ($2). Once across the bridge turn left to go downriver on Highway 14 for about 1.5 miles, then turn right (north) onto Alt 141. Go 2 miles and turn left on SR 141. Head north towards Trout Lake for 8 miles to the parking area on the right side (east). Parking area is approximately at milepost (MP) 12.5.
