WTA is a nonprofit that needs you

We're just as excited as you to get the summer hiking season started. We're psyched our website, app and work for trails help you get outside.

But we're a nonprofit that runs on donations from regular people. If everyone who visited this site this holiday weekend donated $9/month, it would fully fund our work for the next 2 years. Time spent outdoors is priceless, but every donation large or small helps us support those experiences for everyone. Thank you and happy hiking!

Hiking Wilderness Creek

The Wilderness Creek Trail starts from a parking area along Highway 900 and ascends up the slopes of Cougar Mountain to a junction where hikers have the choice of three other trails that take off into the expanse of the Cougar Mountain Regional Park.

From the Jim Whittaker Wilderness Peak Trailhead, head out on the trail, ascending for about a half mile before reaching your first junction. Stay left here and continue on the Wilderness Creek Trail for just under a mile more to another junction. This is the official end of this trail as named, but hikers can continue on to various other trails.

The Wilderness Creek Trail leads to the start of the Shy Bear Trail, The Wilderness Peak Trail and the Long View Peak Trail. A popular option in this area is to combine the Wilderness Creek Trail with the Wilderness Peak Trail and the Wilderness Cliffs Trail to form a robust loop hike.
