Central Cascades > Blewett Pass

Beautiful day to hike! We researched which hikes were actually open, went late in the day hoping for less people, filled up on gas near our house and packed food so we wouldn’t have to stop, and brought masks just in case. We are on the Seattle side so it was a nice long drive to the sunny side of the state. The forest service road is easy to find off the hwy, a bit long and bumpy, take it slow. Lots of cars were headed down when we were headed up, so it was a little nerve racking getting past each other, but there is space. One little section of the road near the top just has room for one car so I had to back up a bit to let a truck coming down get by, but it was fine. Once at the top there is a privy in the lot that is open but not stocked so have tp with you. The hike is so so short. But the views are gorgeous! Beautiful sunny day. We had our three kids with us and they loved it. 360 views. Lookout was closed. Since we waited til around 3:30pm to hike there was only one or two families left up top, and there is plenty of space to spread out. It’s only a half mile from the lot to the top, but you can add another mile and do a loop to the agate field. Very fun day!
*I will add on the way back down the road a police car was blocking the last bit of forest road that goes back to the hwy, I’m not sure why, maybe there was an accident or crash blocking the road? There was a line of a few cars and he was directing us away, so wasn’t able to ask him any questions. So we had to take the 12 mile Teanaway road back to hwy 97. Very long but in decent shape. Added some time to our drive out, but we survived ;) Im sure it’s clear now, but I am not 100% sure why it was blocked off.
