Two night loop with lots of side trips to offshoot lake trails. Cathedral Pass still very snowy, but Deep Lake is fine, as is PCT to Waptus Lake and Trail Creek back to Cathedral trail. Some patches on the side trails but all doable! If you go counterclockwise as we did remember you do the horse ford over the Waptus River (it’s obvious footbridge is out from the other direction but not as clear this way). Bring you sandals for this crossing as well as the deeper and swifter crossing on Trail Creek, as well as a few other smaller streams running high now.

Hi, I was thinking of day hiking to Deep Lake. Am I understanding your trip report that the trail to Deep Lake is snow free? I am not too familiar with geography listed. Need the sandals here too? Thank you for any help!

Hi! What direction are you coming in from? From Cathedral Pass trail, you will not need sandals but you will hit snow at Cathedral Pass, but Deep Lake is snow free! If you come from Waptus Lake you will need sandals to cross the horse ford to Waptus, and again at a relatively benign little creek right before Deep Lake that nonetheless is too deep to walk across as of last week. Have a great trip!
