We hiked up Miller Peak, went along the ridge across Freedom to Navaho, and then camped at the site below Navaho Pass. The hike was very fun, the peaks were all beautiful with amazing views, and landscape was diverse. However, the "trail" across the ridge from Miller to Navaho is really no trail at all. It is essentially off-trail travel, although, as it is a ridge, it isn't hard to know which way to go. The vegetation is also light, so there's no bushwhacking. It was a very fun hike, but I wouldn't recommend it to novice hikers. I would recommend a GPS (I used Gaia on my phone), and make sure you have plenty of water, as there is none between the base of Miller and the campsite below Navaho pass. The hike along the ridge is a good intro if you're interested in doing more off-trail travel, but don't want to bite off too big a challenge. The elevation gain is pretty high though!
