We showed up to the Sheep Lake and Sourdough Gap trail head around 11:30. This was not a good idea. All three parking lots in the area were full, along with any spot along the road. After about 10 minutes we were able to squeeze in behind another car. Once on the trail we kept our masks on until we reached Sourdough Gap, passing by other groups frequently up until that point. Sheep Lake itself was very busy, most of the potential campsites were already taken.
Thankfully that wasn't final destination. After Sourdough Gap the crowds thinned out considerably and we saw only a few other groups as we continued along the PCT until we reached the junction with the Henskin Lake trail. From there we took the trail down to the lake were we found a some day hikers enjoying the sites. The bugs hadn't been bad for most of the way but once we reached Henskin Lake they were more noticeable. We ended up being the only people to stay there that night, giving us our choice of campsites. The next morning we worked our way back, taking about three hours to reach our car.

Day Trekker on Henskin Lake, Sheep Lake
Is this doable as a day hike in and out? What's the mileage? Thanks so much in advance! :-)

It was about 6.5 miles one way, so 13 miles round trip. I'd say its definitely doable in a day.
