We did a day-hike up to Tatoosh lakes via the North trail head (road was pretty good but use caution if in a car without much clearance) on Monday afternoon and didn't see another hiker the whole day! Great hike though prepare to have only two directions - up, and then down. We also chose a day that was cloudy so didn't get the views that this hike is known for, but it was still lovely. Given the altitude and low-lying clouds, the hike was quite wet especially once you're out of the trees and in brush, so recommend wearing waterproof pants or gators. Took about 5 hours round trip, taking it fairly slow on the way up and stopping for about 30 minutes to stare at the lake and hang out with some marmots up top.
