Trip Report

Woodard Bay Conservation Area, Chehalis Western Trail — Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021

Olympic Peninsula > Olympia

I went on the Chehalis Western Trail and found it an easy and enjoyable walk with the exception of trees in two locations across the path, one was quite tricky to get across without falling, having left my hiking poles in the car.  At the end of the trail at the overlook I saw several water fowl, including a family of Common Mergansers.

I believe the Getting There directions could be strengthened (underlined) as follows:  "From I-5 heading south, take Exit 109 (Martin Way Exit) turning right on to Martin Way, in about a half mile, ,make a right onto Sleater-Kinney Rd NE . . . becomes Woodard Bay Rd NE. Pass parking lot on right for Chehalis Western Trail , then Cross over the . . ."
