Got there fairly early. I’ve done this hike before, but I was hoping to catch this partially frozen, and it seemed like a good day, since the roads didn’t have much snow. The hardest part was driving there. The road seemed pretty dry, but it was still in the 20’s and VERY windy outside, which made me nervous on a couple parts.
The road walk was very boring. Going down to the falls was the sketchiest part, and even that wasn’t so bad. I put on my microspikes just in case, as I’ve seen it much worse there before.
Met a kind stranger who told me there’s a shorter route that skips the long road walk if you come “the back way”. I’m assuming this is along the wagon trail route, but I didn’t verify. Maybe next time I’ll try that way!

If you park at Summit West exit 52 - and walk down the forest service road, it's half the distance than parking at exit 47 and walking up to forest service road. Also, there are 3 other waterfalls above Franklin to see.
