We arrived to the trailhead around 9:00AM. There is no "lot" but were a few pull off spots, roughly enough for 5 cars; there were two when we arrived.
To echo other reports there are a TON of potholes of varying depth the entire 3.5 mile road up to the head. There was also quite a bit of slush/snow/mud which made, even four wheel vehicles experience some sliding. With the narrow road, this could land you in the ditch quickly. On our way home we ran into traffic. 3 stuck cars, one 4-runner, one Audi, one Jeep (smaller model).
The trail was great, albeit muddy, snow/slush and a few new blown over trees (par for a winter hike). Nothing too unmanageable.
Throughout the hike you're welcomed by the rushing river below. About 2-2.5 miles in you are greeted by back to back waterfalls that are just magical.
Per other reports and tired with puppy, we decided to go up another 1/2 mile then turn around and head out.
I think in total, we only ran into 5 people on the trail.
Difficulty - minimal, certainly could be done with children or less experienced hikers - small inclines but highly recommended short hike.
