North Cascades > Methow/Sawtooth
Shooting Star is Abundant

Two weeks ago there weren’t a lot of flowers here. Today it was looking pretty good😊 We noted several Lomatia, tons of Shooting Stars, Woodland Star Flower, and a few other early spring beauties.

We had wanted to visit Tenas Mountain. By taking a closer look at my maps I found an abandoned road heading in the direction. Following that long-abandoned road took us to the saddle just west of the summit. From there cross country travel was steep but easy to the summit.

There is a remarkable lot to see and do here; a multitude of deer tracks, bear and canine scar, the Knowlton Knob fire lookout is visible in the distance, and the Columbia River always offers great views.

Our trip was ~4 miles RT with 950’ of gain.
