Trip Report

Indian Dan State Wildlife Refuge — Sunday, Apr. 4, 2021

North Cascades > Methow/Sawtooth

On my way back from trying to visit Mount Leecher, I decided to stop by and poke around the wildlife area to see all that had changed since I first visited (and prompted this entry) on the way to Knowlton Knob Lookout. Indeed, much is changed/different.

This area is definitely a bird paradise right now: lots of American Coots and ducks. There were some frogs tossed in the mix too!

The balsamroot was really popping up on the hillside as well.. a notable difference on the drive along the Columbia yesterday compared to my several trips before.

While I didn’t wander as far as austineats did in the previous trip report, I got exactly what I was looking for: a nice leg stretcher to end my fire lookout hunting trip and a nice break for the long trek back home that I needed to make in my car.

Coot scoot riot... RIOT! You must scoot across the pond... Coot scoot riot... RIOT! Cause that's how we git it dun!
