INCREDIBLE for a sunset hike!
The trail is totally exposed making for a hot trip up. If you do the loop route outlined on the alltrails map it's more gradual.
Balsamroot and lupine start appearing higher up on the trail, roughly halfway. Totally worth making it to the top to get views of the cliffs. Looping through the forested area also gives you a nice break from the sun.
Watch out for ticks! Especially with pups. They didn't bother me or my short-haired dog, but I was pulling them off my fluffier pup for a couple of days after.
I also saw a snake. She was totally harmless, but I know rattlesnakes also like these drier areas. So definitely stick to the trails and be mindful of where you step.
Check out my video linked in the full description if you'd like to see more of my experience :)
Have fun and stay safe!
