Started up a little after noon, after paddling the lake in the morning. Despite the description as shady, I’d say it’s only partially shaded, so don’t forego the sunscreen, sleeves, and/or hat.
Only went as far as the camp, which was fine and had ok views. It’s not as unobstructed as other passes (trees) but I can see where it may not be worth the moderate effort for some when other, easier options exist nearby. Some stream crossings, not deep, but over the toe of my boots so waterproof shoes very helpful. Several large blow downs that mostly weren’t too hard to go over or under except one of the last ones. I tried around it (not advised) and over (better). Poles helpful, both for the trail and the obstacles. I’m only 5’5” so kinda short legs as far as straddling a log is concerned. Completely snow-free to the camp, mosquitoes not out yet, some flowers.
5 hours RT at a brisk pace with about 45 mins resting and snacking at the camp.
