The Heather Park Trail in Olympic National Park is now snow-free to First Top with the exception of a few tiny snow patches above the small stream at Heather Park. Our GPS track showed the entire journey to First Top and back at 9.3 miles, beginning and ending at the Heart O' the Hills Trailhead at 1840 feet and elevating to 5688 feet. That's a gain of 3848 in 4.7 miles. I do recommend trekking poles because of slippery pebbles in the steep switchbacks. The wonderful views at First Top are worth the effort of the climb.
