Trip Report

Kloshe Nanitch — Sunday, Jul. 4, 2021

Olympic Peninsula > Northern Coast

This trail is located at the end of Snider Rd off of 101 past Lake Crescent. The first 5 minutes of the hike are on a now abandoned portion of Snider Rd that is being overtaken by the forest. Soon after starting you reach the actual start of the Kloshe Nanitch trail which is marked by a sign on your left. The trail immediately starts to gain elevation and does not quit climbing with the for the majority of the hike. The trail is narrow and VERY overgrown for 98% of the hike, and the tread is eroding in a handful of places. There were 3 trees down across the trail that were easy enough to climb over and 3 small creeks that require using a few rocks to cross in order to keep your boots dry. Did I mention the trail is narrow and overgrown? You'd be smart to wear pants and even a long sleeve shirt to minimize the number of scratches you're guaranteed to have by the end of the trail. Like other trip reports have mentioned, the trail is closer to 7.5-8 miles round trip. It is 3.5 miles to the junction with the Mt. Muller trail and the another 0.25 miles to the look out platform, which is AWESOME! The views of Mt. Olympus and Lake Crescent are phenomenal and make the steep, brushy trail worth it.
