Central Washington > Grand Coulee
had to hold the sign down for the pic

 I'm ba-aack!  Who'd have thunk it?  But, I had to pee -

Took Hwy 2 home from Spokane, so I was in no hurry. (sometimes you just have to slow down and take the scenic route - it's all about the drive.) When the highway dipped down into Moses Coulee, I thought I would go back to this short little walk and soak up some coulee vibes before returning to the "Dark Side". Very windy today - the sign was nearly blown off the post. Got the water bottle and hiking stick out, only to find that the sign said CLOSED.   "High fire danger" it seems - although I'm not sure what that has to do with hiking. Fires aren't even allowed here. Maybe they're worried about the sun reflecting off your smart-ass phone. Anyhow, I didn't get to hike it. (but I did get to pee. Whew!)  Oh well, it wasn't that great of a hike anyway.

Just thought I would throw this out there and spare you the long drive down a dead-end road. Probably have to wait til Fall for this one.

P.S.  - Somewhere between there and the highway, I lost a mask. Flew right out the window. Had it hanging on the turn-signal lever (doesn't everyone?) and a gust of wind took it right out. I looked in the rearview but it was gone. So if you see a random mask in the middle of nowhere - that's what happened. Come to think of it, it's unused so you're welcome to it!  (if not, some future archaeologist will be left to wonder what someone from the "Lost Year" was doing out in the middle of nowhere with a mask on.)

Looks like now there is an actual TH. We did this back in the aughts sometime and you just parked and hiked. Do it in the spring, when the waterfall is coming down over the cliff. You are right, when we drive to Spokane, we like to take #2, it is more scenic and not that much longer from Everett. The geology is unique, sometime stop at Dry Falls State Park and check out the little museum (when it's open after Covid) if you haven't already.

Yeah, the posts were added since I was here in April. There's also a newish barbed-wire chicane thingy near the falls to keep the livestock out. (would have looked better with the posts - see my previous report for a pic.) Even in April the falls were just a trickle.
