Eastern Washington > Spokane Area/Coeur d'Alene

I had never been to this area before, so wanted to see it.  The parking situation is not the best. There are only 4-5 spots available, though there was adequate parking down the block.  After walking down the hill on the wide and easy trail, one comes to a small group of homes. There are yellow shoe prints painted on the walkway, but they were difficult to see with all the leaves falling. Since I didn't know this, a fellow hiker pointed them out and the way then became obvious. The trail was easy and well maintained. It is good to have a basic map as there were some off shoots that were unclear as to where they went.  The main trail up the cliff area has been redone recently and it was signed "new trail". There are great views from the cliff area of the Little Spokane River which meanders through a floodplain of grasses and water-loving deciduous trees.

It was a beautiful day and the fall colors were exquisite.  I will be back.
