Haven't made a trip report in awhile. This is my go to place to hike if I am not sure where to go. I am never disappointed here. I chose to park up on the hill away from West Beach in the park since most people go there. I then hiked down through the middle of the campgrounds that are closed for winter to North Beach.
The main road down to North Beach is closed for logging. A lot of trees have fallen in the park and they are working to get them all removed before major camping season which starts in May. These are some humungous trees to remove.
Once down on North Beach I was surprised at the lack of people. I guess since its the off season in Winter the crowds die down dramatically. There was still about 12 people there. I walked up as close as safely possible under the bridge and then turned around and walk down the beach where I finally found North Beach Cliff Trail and walked out to West Beach. It was a little over a mile and I passed no one on the trail.
Once a West Beach the crowd was quite big but not as bad as Summer gets. With such a big parking lot and no need for hiking most people end up here in the park. After soaking up the beautiful views here I headed along the road on the North Side of Cranberry Lake until I got back up the hill to my vehicle. All and all it was about 3 miles.
Just a nice all around stroll thru the park and away from the larger crowds for most of the hike. Checkout my video below or checkout my VIMEO Channel for lots of nice hikes all over Washington State and neighboring states. https://vimeo.com/mikemorrison
As always get out there and see this beautiful state and enjoy your hiking!
Take Care,
Mike
