I arrived a little after 7am in advance of a WTA work party and was the second car at the trailhead. Parking lot can hold at least a dozen cars. I'd explored the southern part of the park on an earlier visit so headed out on the Porpoise Point trail, extending the loop with the Calamity Trail, Sunburst trail, and then heading back to the parking lot via the Sares Head overlook and the Fern Forest and Skyline Loop trail. I had worked on the latter two trails in previous WTA work parties and it was great to take advantage of the improvements as a hiker. The Porpoise Point and Calamity trails had a few downed trees but no major obstacles. And the day was gorgeous and so I had clear views across the water to the Olympics from Amelia's Respite.
By the time the work party concluded, the parking lot was full and we had seen numerous hikers going out and back along the trail. Was a great day to be out on the trails.
