Somehow I ignored Tacoma on my previous visits to the area. After exploring Point Defiance park earlier in March, I noticed waterfront while driving and wanted to get back and walk it. A wrong turn on my way brought me to downtown Tacoma and this beautiful arboretum.
The park is not large, but really nice. Lots of playgrounds, a fountain, landscaping - full package for a downtown park. Cherries, magnolias and rhododendrons are now at various stages of their bloom.
On a practical note. Trail length suggested by the WTA is for the trail that encircles the park. Free street parking is in abundance around the park. Restrooms were not well maintained. The conservatory is currently closed for renovation.
Residential and business area to NW of the park looked nice as well, so one may want to extend their walk a bit. Downtown Tacoma to S from the park definitely has some interesting architecture and is worth at least driving through.
