Arrived around 10:30 and parking areas were nearly full, but I was able to get a spot. The trail is in hood condition, with only a few muddy areas in the low-lying portion of the trail. This trail is pretty steep with several areas that require pretty big steps to get over some really impressive tree roots. Some nice peek-a-boo views of the lake near the top of the maintained trail. The end of the maintained trail is a fine place for some lunch and a nice views, but of course, we all know that views only get better the higher we go, right?!! So tighten those boots, put on some gloves, take a drink of water and get ready for the infamous rope section!
Turns out the ropes are no big deal. In fact, I didn’t even find them necessary on the way up. They were pretty helpful on the way down, though, not because of the steepness of the grade but because of the abundance of loose rock on the trail. Anyway, the view from the top was everything I hoped it would be. Absolutely stunning views of Lake Crescent and Pyramid Peak, and even had good views across the Strait to Canada! Perfect hike for this perfect spring day! 10/10!
