Goat Lake — Saturday, Jul. 13, 2024

North Cascades > Mountain Loop Highway
Goat Lake by cwentling

The trail was well maintained and easy to find. We took the lower loop on the way up & the upper loop on the down. If I had it to do over, I would take the lower loop both ways. The upper loop climbed an extra 200 feet and was quite boring the lower loop had ups and downs and waterfalls. The waterfalls are beautiful!

I hope this was my wife because she suggested it and it is rare for her to get out on the trail. I was about seven weeks post aortic valve replacement. I had no problem hiking. There were some very steep sections which could be challenging. But a quick rest always did the trick.

We arrived around seven or 730. The trail was not too busy until later in the day. The lake and the mountains are beautiful. It’s a nice long hike, but it isn’t too challenging. It’s a great way to spend a Saturday!

Our total mileage was about 11 miles and it took us about 7 hours round-trip.

If you have enough inflatable raft to get out on the lake, bring it with you. It will make your hike all that much better.
