Trip Report

McClellan Butte — Saturday, Aug. 17, 2024

Snoqualmie Region > Snoqualmie Pass

SO MANY BERRIES! About 1.5 miles from the top, there’s a mile long stretch of some of the ripest huckleberries! And about 3 miles from the top there’s even some of the red variety of huckleberries which is neat since you don’t see those too often. Even found a ripe salmon berry.

Trail is not busy either, there were about 15 groups total on a sunny Saturday morning. Good amount of parking available. If you show up 1:20 hrs after sunrise you’ll probably be in the first 1/3 of hikers.

Views were pretty good. A little hazy (only yellow on air quality), but Rainier was only barely visible as an outline through the haze.
