Sunny day. No humans. Only had a couple hours so hiked the first 2 miles. Amazing grove of old growth western red cedars 1.7 miles in. Possible cougar print. Saw lots of elk prints and scat. Mature groves of hemlock, bigleaf maple, doug fir, and some sitka spruce alternating with younger groves and meadows. Road in is recently maintained (some potholes but made it in a corolla), pit toilet at trailhead very clean. Primitive trail with natural surface of round stone/dirt. Saw grouse, ravens, eagles. Beautiful views of river and mountains along trail!
