Conditions good; a bit drizzly, a little mud, some slippery spots, no snow, nothing very intense. Trail is generally quite easy to follow although there are a couple of spots where someone *could* get confused - one by the rest bench overlooking the tiny waterfall (it's *possible* to miss the actual trail and think, at least briefly, that you're going to have to cross that creek) and once by the old logging road - go up the small stone stairway directly across the logging road from you, not up or down the logging road itself.
This hike is, overall, very nice. There's a lot of really good moss on the trees and cool rocks, if you're the sort of person who's very into that or know someone who is. The views on the way up are mostly forest, but the forest is beautiful. The vista at the end of the trail is absolutely fantastic, a great payoff to a manageable and pleasant trail. Elevation gain isn't especially arduous, but you may break a sweat.
Fair warning: as the sign near the beginning mentions, there IS wildlife in the area - bring bear spray and understand what to do in the (unlikely) event you run into something larger than a squirrel. We did NOT have bear spray on this hike, because I live in a city and periodically forget that's a thing, which is very dumb for someone who religiously listens to the Tooth and Claw podcast. We didn't get eaten by bears* but if you plan on recreating in areas that have them, the responsible thing to do is to be smarter than I was today, if at all possible.
